What's a Dermascan?
The Dermascan is a simple box that uses ultraviolet (UV) light to show sun damage that is invisible to the naked eye. By looking into the Dermascan, you can see sun damage that has already happened to your face.

Elmwood Day Camp
White Plains, NY - June 24, 2003
Kate's Foundation met with 130 camp counselors for this 500-child Ben Applebaum Foundation camp to educate them about sun safety and melanoma awareness. We distributed hundreds of SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, educational brochures, and self-screening tip sheets, and we brought along a Dermascan.

Black Bear Lake Day Camp
Clarksburg, NJ - June 18, 2003
In association with the Ben Applebaum Foundation, Kate's Foundation met with 130 camp counselors to educate them about sun safety and melanoma awareness. We also distributed hundreds of SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, educational brochures, and self-screening tip sheets.

The Kate Verdon Spisak Educational Scholarship
Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School
Rumson, NJ - June 19, 2003
An annual scholarship given to a Rumson-Fair Haven High School senior who demonstates initiative and ambition in promoting melanoma awareness, the 2003 scholarship attracted many applicants. This year's scholarship recipient was Joseph Scofi. In addition to awarding the scholarship, a primer on melanoma facts and prevention was delivered to an audience of 500 students, their families, and faculty members.

Summit, NJ - June 8, 2003
At this annual event, Kate's Foundation distributed 650 SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, over 450 educational brochures, and over 200 self-screening tip sheets to attendees.

Middletown High School South Faculty Health Fair
Middletown, NJ - May 22, 2003
Kate's Foundation distributed close to a hundred SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, educational brochures, and self-screening tip sheets to both faculty and students attending the health fair. We also ran the Dermascan throughout the event.

At Kate's Foundation's annual fundraising bash, we distributed over 500 SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, 500 educational brochures, and over 500 self-screening tip sheets to attendees. We also had the Dermascan available for facial screenings of attendees.
